What are the Different Types of Injectable Treatments?

Being that values of convenience and cost-effectiveness are at the crux of any consumer buying decision, you would likely love to get cosmetic procedure results with a simple snap of your fingers. Although magic working is not necessarily included in the job description for cosmetic surgeons, injectable treatments are the closest alternative, providing you with rapid, desirable changes.

These treatments offer results at a reduced cost with minimal treatment and recovery times. To help you figure out if injectable treatments could work for you, Dr. Sanjay Lalla has composed a patient-friendly guide, from which you can explore your options.

PRP Treatments

Our blood naturally produces platelet-rich plasma (PRP). PRP treatments inject this plasma to either sculpt the face or promote hair growth. With respect to the face treatment variety, PRP targets dark circles, fine lines, and droopy or damaged skin from acne or sun exposure. Helping hair growth, PRP fills in thinning or receding areas by improving nutrient absorption and blood supply in hair follicles.

Injectable Neo-Modulators

Another form of injectable treatment is neo-modulator, otherwise known as wrinkle relaxing injections. If you hope to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and do not mind a little needle use, this option could be for you. Dynamic wrinkles grow from repeated muscle contraction, such as from frowning, squinting, and brow furrowing. Neuromodulators, mainly Botox, work by blocking nerve impulses, to target and weaken the muscles causing these wrinkles.

Post-treatment, bruising might last for up to a week, with results lasting for three to five months. On another note, if you deal with excessive armpit sweating, Botox could also be a helpful remedy. To reduce odor and perspiration in this area, injections block the chemical signals which stimulate the sweat glands.

Injectable Fillers

As you age, your skin thins as it loses subcutaneous fat, which leads to sagging and more apparent wrinkling and creasing. This thinning also happens alongside collagen loss, resulting in loss of volume in your face. Filler counters these aging dynamics by attracting and holding water to restore facial volume. Juvéderm and Restylane, hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, are natural components of your skin’s connective tissue. Alternatively, Radiesse injections stimulate your body’s production of collagen and HA. Results from these injectable fillers can last up to 18 months. Additionally, the hour-long filler procedure requires no anesthesia. While bruising might persist for up to two weeks, swelling typically lasts no more than three days after receiving filler.

An honorable mention goes to injectable lip fillers, which add more volume and fullness to the lip area. These injectables might help delay the need for more invasive surgical options, such as lip implants or lifts. Results appear immediately and typically last a hearty 12 to 18 months, depending on your age and metabolism. Swelling, sensitivity, and bruising typically go away within 24 to 48 hours.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

Those wanting to change their nose but avoid invasive, incision-requiring procedures can opt for nose filler. Non-surgical rhinoplasties typically combine injectable fillers with Botox. Though less financially and physically taxing than the traditional nose job route, this option similarly addresses bumps, crookedness, and asymmetry in the nose area. This procedure takes less than an hour and you can resume any vigorous activity in 2-3 days with your new-looking nose.
