What is Restylane?
Restylane is an FDA-approved hyaluronic acid-based facial injection with a quick and easy procedure lasting 15 minutes. More importantly, patients will see full results a few days after the procedure and can last between 6 to 18 months.
Restylane can effortlessly fill out the cheeks, chin, nasolabial folds (the lines that run from your nose to the corners of your mouth), lips, perioral lines (lines surrounding the mouth), and even the hands. The clear, transparent gel is particularly good for reducing glabellar lines – the furrows between the eyebrows.
Unlike Juvéderm, Restylane is a granular gel. The granular gel makes this dermal filler more cohesive, so it remains in the injection site. The buildable structure of the gel is great for adding volume and contouring the face. To avoid any lumps or bumps, your plastic surgeon must actively smooth out Restylane during the procedure.
What is Juvéderm?
Juvéderm is a hyaluronic gel with a smooth consistency, allows plastic surgeons to properly inject the filler without any hassle. As an FDA-approved filler, Juvéderm produces immediate and natural-looking results that will delight patients of all ages. The procedure takes about 15 minutes without the need for anesthesia. However, your plastic surgeon may administer a topical or injectable anesthetic to minimize any discomfort.
Juvéderm proves especially effective at reducing nasolabial folds, the lines that run from the bottom of the nose to the corner of the mouth. Additionally, board-certified plastic surgeons use this gel to treat the cheeks, chin, lips, and perioral lines. More importantly, Juvéderm is longer lasting than Restylane with most patients seeing results for at least one year.
Since Juvéderm is a smoother gel than Restylane, it is best for patients looking to reduce the appearance of fine lines where the skin is tight. The filler spreads and travels after the injection, helping dissipate wrinkles and plumping the skin.
